How to Fix Your Cell Phone Battery?
Cell phone battery issues are getting common. Even the phones that aren't so old do experience low battery time. In addition, overuse of the smartphone coupled with improper handling can further affect its ability to hold a charge.  For older smartphones, fixing cell phone batteries was easy - buy a new battery and replace the old one. However, the latest smartphones have non-removable batteries, making it difficult to fix them. But, this doesn't mean you should change your phone if you have battery issues with the old one.  This article consists of how you can do cell phone battery replacement by yourself.  Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can fix battery issues in less time and in a cost-effective way. Let's get started!

Steps to Fix Your Cell Phone Battery

1- Disassemble the Phone

Disassemble the Phone The first step to cell phone battery replacement is disassembling the phone. However, if your phone has a removable back, you can skip this step. For non-removable back phones, you need to disassemble the phone to get access to the battery. Here’s how you can do it for the iPhone (the steps are similar for other phones).
  • Remove the pentalobe screws.
  • Heat the lower edge of the phone to soften the adhesive holding on the display.
  • Install a suction handle at the bottom of the phone while avoiding the curved portion of the glass.
  • Pull up the suction handle with firm, constant pressure to create a gap between the front panel and rear case.
  • Insert an opening pick from around the lower-left corner and move it around to slice the adhesive holding the display. Revise this process from the right side.
  • Gently pull the right edge of the display down slightly and insert your pick into the top-right corner of the phone.
  • Detach the suction cup from the front panel.
  • Open the iPhone by taking up the display screen from the left side. However, please don’t remove the display altogether, as several fragile cables connect it to the logic board.
  • Remove screws from the battery connector cover and then the bracket.
  • Disconnect the battery from the logic board.
  • Disconnect the display and front sensors from the battery.
  • Remove the display assembly, speaker, and Taptic engine.
  • Peel back the adhesive battery strips from the top and bottom edge of the battery.
  • Finally, remove the battery.
Tip: It is advisable to drain the battery to less than 25% before removing it to prevent fires and explosions.  Check out the tools you will need to disassemble and assemble the phone.

2- Change the Battery

Change the Battery Now that you have removed the battery, it’s time to replace the cell phone battery with a new one.  First, make sure to buy the best cell phone replacement battery for your model. Buy best, we mean the one designed for your phone and from a reliable supplier. Also, it’s better to avoid after-market cell phone batteries as they usually don’t last for long.  You can even try reviving your old battery. This can also help improve its ability to hold a charge.

3- Revive the Battery

Revive the Battery If you’ve left your phone discharged for a long time, they eventually lose their ability to hold a charge. Reviving your battery can help improve its health. Here’s how you can do it.
  • Gather the necessary equipment - 9-volt battery, electric tape, basic thin electrical wire (two different colors are preferred).
  • Connect the electrical wires to the positive and negative terminals of the battery. Then, connect the positive terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the cell phone battery.
  • Repeat the process for the negative terminal. Remember not to connect opposite terminals as it will create a short circuit for your cell phone battery.
  • Use electric tapes to secure the connection.
  • Leave the connection for around a minute, or your cell phone battery gets a little warm.
  • Remove the connection and insert the battery into your mobile.

4- Assemble the Phone

Assemble the Phone The last but most important task during cell phone battery replacement is assembling the device. First, put in all the connections that you disconnected in the first step.  Make sure to connect all the screws and cables to ensure optimal performance of your device. Even a minor mistake could further damage your cell phone.
